IPTV and video on demand solutions for educational establishments
IPTV and video on demand services can be extremely effective in the learning environment providing a wide variety of content in different forms to different audiences. Solutions are quick and easy to deploy, delivering advanced services to educational establishments, conference centers and training institutes.

Educational establishments can finally abandon the complications of the TV trolley and the VHS recorder in classrooms, lecture rooms and theatres. Educational TV programs can now be planned and recorded in advance via a central management system and broadcast in any lecture room at any time on wall mounted screens using only a remote control unit.
- All content is stocked centrally, making it accessible anywhere in the establishment where there is a connection to the network.
- System administration is centralized, optimizing resources – recording can be programmed by the lecturers in advance via an on-line request service that automatically schedules recording and storage. Lecturers simply call up the recorded program on any screen connected to the network using a reference or time code.
- All the usual viewing features are available, including fast forward, pause, rewind etc.
- Because content is digital, lecturers can make programs or films available to students either directly on-line or by plugging a USB key into a PC as they leave the room.
- Content can also be archived and added to library resources.
Multimedia signage
The same network and technologies can be used for multimedia signage in common areas. Screens at different locations can deliver the same or different content:
- Screens can be placed in lecture buildings, the student union, common rooms, study rooms, administrative offices, the cafeteria, the halls of residence, the library…
- The screens can be used to promote upcoming events, sports results, student election information, details of student associations, student television ...
- Content can be adapted to the area in which it is displayed: student TV in the student union, TV news channel in the library, food menus in the cafeteria. Emergency information can be pushed to all the screens at any time at the click of a mouse.
- Administration and signage/program planning is carried out at one central point in the system allowing information to be changed or updated simply and easily at any time.

For establishments with campuses, the same system can provide multimedia packages to students in their residences via the same local IP network. These packages can include:
- Internet access
- Broadcast TV
- Films on demand (free or pay per view).
Since rooms are often small, students can view services directly on their PCs saving space and reducing investment in new equipment. Students also benefit from direct access to archives and library content.
