IPTV and VOD Solutions for Campuses and Residential Developments
Deployment of IPTV and video on demand services is an extremely interesting option for campuses and residential communities. Anevia’s solutions enable the same network infrastructure to deliver a wide variety of multimedia services to different areas of the campus or residence and to different audiences, providing a high performance but very cost effective system.
Multimedia packages for students
Many new residential developments and student residences include deployment of a local IP network. Entertainment bundles for TV, video on demand and Internet access can be delivered to each residence or student room via the local network.
Students, for example, require multimedia packages in their residences that give them access to the Internet and TV. However, rooms are very small and space for multimedia equipment is limited. Anevia’s solutions enable campuses to offer students a full multimedia package that can be accessed on a PC including:
- Broadcast TV
- Internet access
- Free and/or pay per view films
Multimedia signage
The same network and technologies can be used for multimedia signage in public areas. Screens at different locations can deliver the same or different content:
- Screens can be placed in reception areas, common rooms, cafeterias, libraries, lecture buildings, study rooms, administrative offices, …
- The screens can be used to promote upcoming community events, sports results, residential committee or student election information, details of associations, community or student TV...
- Content can be adapted to the area in which it is displayed: community TV in the common room, TV news channel in the library, food menus in the cafeteria. Emergency information can be pushed to all the screens at any time at the click of a mouse.
- Administration and signage/program planning is carried out at one central point in the system allowing information to be changed or updated simply and easily at any time.
Content Resource for common rooms, lecture rooms and libraries
The same system can also be used in common rooms, lecture rooms and libraries as an on-line content resource, providing access to broadcast TV, pre-recorded programs, archived content and the Internet:
- Live broadcast satellite TV channels from all over the world
- Pre-recorded educational TV programs on-demand in lecture rooms: programs are scheduled and recorded in advance on a central server and broadcast on-demand on wall-mounted screens in the lecture room that are connected to the network
- Internet access
- Centralized content storage:
- On demand access to archived multimedia reference materials
- Storage and controlled distribution of other resources such as personal reference materials, content for meetings, presentations or tutorials…
Anevia products for residential sites
Anevia’s solutions can be used with IP, DSL and WiFi networks. The same network infrastructure delivers multimedia services to all areas of the site. A centralized management system configures the type of service and content that is delivered to each subscriber, common area or office.
