Paris, 4th September 2009
Anevia , a leader in video streaming solutions and service infrastructure for live TV and Video on Demand (VOD), today announced the availability of Start Over on Mobile and Pause on Call – two unique, new time-shifting video applications for mobile phones that form part of Anevia’s 3Screens™ strategy for delivery of the same video content on TV, PC and mobile phone.
The two new mobile service applications allow subscribers to see every moment of their favorite live TV programs even if they tune in late or receive calls during a program.
Start Over on Mobile Available for the first time on a mobile phone, this feature enables subscribers to view live broadcast programs from the beginning after the program has begun, without losing any content.
Mobile TV services allow users to tune into their favorite live programs wherever they are. However, it is not always possible to be punctual when one is out and about (for example, a train to catch, a meeting to finish, a traffic jam…). Start Over on Mobile liberates subscribers from the constraints of program schedules. Using their mobile phone, they can join their favorite programs whenever they wish, wherever they are, and begin viewing from the beginning without missing any of the action.
Pause on Call Pause on Call is a time-shifting feature for live mobile TV services. The application automatically pauses viewing when a call arrives, allowing the subscriber to choose to take the call or not. When the call is finished, the subscriber resumes viewing where the program paused, with no loss of content. The application means that no calls have to be ignored and there is no frustration for the subscriber at missing program footage while talking on the phone. The Pause on Call feature was developed using Bluestreak’s MachBlue Engine.
The Start Over on Mobile and Pause on Call applications record all live broadcast services delivered over the operator network in a buffer. When the subscriber uses one of the two time-shifting features, the application uses the recorded footage either to return to the beginning of the program or to resume viewing where the program was placed on pause.
“Mobile users no longer have to compromise – they can continue to use their mobile phone as a phone, while benefiting from all the new video services offered by operators,” states Pierre-Yves Le Berre, VP of Business Development at Anevia. “They feel free to use their phone to watch live TV when they like and where they like because they know that they won’t miss a moment of the action.”
