The Toucan servers are hybrid Video on Demand (VoD)
and network Personal Video Recording (nPVR) streamers.
These appliances enable "on-demand" video to IP set-top boxes or
software players that support the RTSP protocol. They are designed to record and
stream a very large number of simultaneous streams. The
Apalis manager and several Toucan servers can be put together to serve an
unlimited number of simultaneous clients.
Product Range
The Toucan 100 VOD server is designed for the hospitality
market such as hotels, hospitals, residential areas and cruise ships. It also suits a large number of corporate needs.
The Toucan 500 is designed for the telecom operators market. For telcos, the Video on Demand
solution is made of 2 components:
It stores videos on its hard drives and sends the streams over the IP network;
The Apalis manager handles all transactions.
This architecture allows the deployment of a scalable VOD cluster, where additional streaming capacity is only a matter
of adding Toucan streamers.
